Physical Education (PE) is a compulsory subject for all students at Melrose High School. Students in Years 7 and 8 complete a dynamic program with a strong emphasis on fitness and skill development.Students in Years 9 and 10 select their semester units from a choice of programs or complete a general Physical Education and Health unit.
All students are encouraged to participate in school carnivals held throughout the year. Students also have the opportunity to participate in zone carnivals and interschool sports competitions in various sports.
The Aspiring Athletes Program (AAP) in PE provides the opportunity for students to achieve academically while continuing their commitment to their chosen team and/or individual sport. It also provides tutorial time for students to ensure academic requirements are being met at all times.
The gymnasium provides our students with a purpose built indoor sporting facility. The Physical Education faculty has upgraded existing equipment and installed a climbing wall. The gymnasium provides a wonderful environment for scheduled PE classes as well as lunch time training and competitions.
