Student Leadership Initiatives
All students have opportunities to get involved in a variety of programs at the school to develop their skills as future leaders. Students may volunteer to be promotional helpers at whole school functions such as Parent Teacher Evenings, Mini Timetable Night, Information Night, Orientation Days for Year 6 and other community functions as they occur throughout the school year.
Students are trained in developing their communication and public relation skills, speaking confidently and knowledgeably to members of the public. Students can elect to become members of the Student Representative Council, organising whole school events, fundraising events for charities and involving themselves in community issues. Senior students have opportunities to attend ACT wide functions as part of Youth Leadership debates, representing the school and themselves in a wide variety of fora. Students are also able to join the Environmental Committee to work on sustainable projects around the school.
Students undertake leadership training in Year 9. Students are then selected to be Peer Support Leaders, student mediators and student tutors in Year 10. Students are also able to take responsibility for publicity and secretarial tasks on behalf of the school.
